Started restoration of my 67 vette

I bought my 67 corvette 4 years ago. The body has never been off the frame. The paint looked pretty good, but was getting tired. I had the car judged with NCRS and it received a second flight award. Most of the deductions were related to the unrestored undercarriage. I thought this would be a good time to give it a good restoration. The following photos were taken last Saturday.
    IMG_0067.jpgIMG_0097.jpgIMG_0184.jpgIMG_0185.jpg

    Looking for a few items.

Starter Motor : 1107365 dated jan or feb
Voltage Regulator : 1119515 dated jan or feb
    Delco Remy Ignition coil 1115264
    Delco Remy horns.

Any information on these parts would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mike

    Mike,

It looks like you're off to a great start. I would try NCRS member John Meissinger for the voltage regulator, he may have an NOS example with your date. His contact info is in the Members section.

The horns are date-coded, so if yours are original, they can be rebuilt. There are several people recommended in the archives, Joe Perri (OEM Horn Rebuilders) did a great job on mine, email: corvetteillinois@comcast.net.

        Mike,

You might try John Pirkle, Jr. for the starter and voltage regulator.

          Take lots of pictures.
          Don't throw anything away.
Don't make a big decision (like painting the body, etc) without researching a LOT.

Chris brings up good points. Bag and tag, bag and tag, bag and tag. I find old plastic lunch meat containers are the best. You can easily see the labels and they're stackable. Take lots of pictures and I even keep a ledger of unique parts/components and how they fit and were removed.

As for researching stuff and thinking about how you want to do it, you will find that you will have many decisions to make.

              Michael, one other point.

You should consider at this point, what your goal with the car is? Reliable driver? Chapter Top Flight? National Top Flight? That decision will guide you throughout the restoration process.

Re: Started restoration of my 67 vette

All Good comments guys and I really appreciate it. I will be bagging and tagging everything and keeping anything i am not re-using. My goal is to make the car as correct as possible. Most of the parts are all correct and correctly dated so I will reuse and/or restore everything I can. I have purchased a correctly dated starter motor. While I am doing this, I love driving the car so I am not planning on building a trailer queen. I am doing it mostly for personal satisfaction and enjoyment. Will be more than likely having it rejudged, but not necessarily looking for National Top Flight. Will be keeping you posted as I progress. Thanks.

ALL GOOD ADVIVE. Also if you do use any resto. parts & have the origional compare them both. I have found that many even so called NOS parts are not like the original. Alot of the GM parts that we bought even in the early 70"S were service parts & not the same as assembly line parts for that year. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR CORVETTE.

Hi Michael, I have a starter and voltage regulator dated exactly for your car. I sent you an email through the forum too. I also unconditionally recommend Joe Perri for Horns! He is the end all be all for quality!

Feel free to email or call.

                              Thanks,
