Thanks for the info. I'm surprised the dates are so close. They didn't have them hanging around for very long. 9 days from body build to final assembly including loading, shipping and unloading is pretty fast. So, I suppose that the bracket was original to the car. Although, on close inspection of my picture, I see the indent of a prior fastener or washer on the passenger side bolt hole.

BTW, I didn't mean to hijack the original post. Your car looks great Matt. I think I'll be doing some of that myself. Right now the front is on jackstands anyway, as I'm rebuilding the front suspension and brakes.
    hi michael,
i am glad you posted pics. this is how we begin to figure out these cars by comparing with others. i need to recalculate my production date. my body date is april 4 for the ao smith body but not the actual build date for the completed car. thank you john for reminding me about that. good luck with your car michael. we would love to see more pics.
    take care,
    matt

I think you guys are not seeing the big picture John is indicating. Ionia MI to St Louis, MO...from other posts in other threads that transit from AOS to St Louis was about a week, so the days on the tail of this show the real time inside an assembly plant is a matter of a day or two before they were completed and shipped.

        hi ron,
i understand what john was saying. i was correcting myself on the build date of my car. i forgot about the date on the trim tag of an ao smith body is not the actual build date of the completed car like the st louis cars are.

        take care,
        matt

          Matt,

The date on the trim tag for a St. Louis body is still the body build date. It's just that the time lag between the body build date and final assembly for a St. Louis body is less than the A. O. Smith body.
