Have you searched the archives for the many discussions on these? The tanker question always comes up. Try plugging in Z06 to the "Search" bar.

Of the 199, or is that 200 since we know there is at least one Z06 convertible, 63 were "tankers". Now, I am not sure if the pilot line cars figure into this 199 total or not. I am sure folks like Jerry Bramlett, Bob Jones, Jim Gessner can chime in on this.

Your question about whether there is a site that lists the VINs, I do not know of any. I do know that Bob Jones started and still updates (think last update was May 2011) a Z06 registry. Every so often we will hear of another "barn find" on the Z06 front, such as the right-hand drive tanker in Aussie-land that is heading back to the good ole USA and ProTeam.

BTW - I own a black/red small tank Z06 that has attained Duntov

I am giving a 1.5 hour seminar at the SAN DIEGO NATIONAL Convention on July 4 at 10:30 AM on "THE EVOLUTION OF THE 63 CORVETTE" The Z0-6 will be covered in detail. Records show 199 Z0-6 cars were built, and 63 Tank cars. We have found over the years that upwards of 69 Z0-6 Tank cars were built, and more tankers that were NOT race engine oriented. Two cars with 300hp and air conditiong had the big 36 gallon gas tank. That information was in Noland's book and the Black book for years.

The little REGISTRY that Bob Jones has created shows 69 tankers have been identified by vin number, and 5 others are missing. 37 small tank cars are currently in the SURVEY. Evey month there are new stories about new cars.

The one thing Frank, is that the values of these cars is going crazy especially now that they are almost 50 years old. They are far more rare than a 67 big block 435 convertible

Thanks for the heads up on the seminar. I think we are going to have our 63 judged in San Diego if everything goes right, but we need to do a local event before we make the haul. How can I get the list the Bob has created? Where the car bulit in any kind of order or just random? You don't see many for sale.

I saw that Noland's 53 in going to be acutioned at Russo and Steel, what kind of numbers do think it will bring?

Do you have Noland's book? It has a fair amount of detail on Z06 production in the '63 chapter.

There is a lot of good information about the '63 Z06 in Nolan Adams Guide - vol 2 on pages 176-181, including vin numbers.
