Re: Alternator stamp Inspection marks
Most small blocks have the code "RF" and and the letter "A" on the right side that is usually upside down. I have had both stamps made and if they are not for your applicaton, I do have the correct size font and ink. If anyone is interested you have my email on my user profile."SOLID LIFTERS MATTER"- Top

Re: Alternator stamp Inspection marks
According to my (now tattered) fourth edition TIM&JG, your 454's alternator should carry a "RG" broadcast code if non A/C and a "RH" if it does have A/C. My 350's "RF" got full points this past summer @ the National convention. I have attached a photo for your consideration (and to see if I could post a photo on the new TDB format). Maybe you can use it for a font size/type guide on yours if you can't locate a stamp elsewhere. Maybe others can post a photo of the "RG" and/or "RH".
Hope this helps...Attached FilesDon Lowe

Re: Alternator stamp Inspection marks
If you like inspection stamps that is fine. If you know your original alternator had one, by all means duplicate it. If you think every alternator had an inspection stamp I have a bridge to sell you.Terry- Top

Re: Alternator stamp Inspection marks
Hi,
A person can make a pretty realistic looking stamping (if they decide their alternator needs it) with a $7 set of rubber letter stamps from a craft store like Michaels.
Each letter is seperate so the combinations are all there. On the set that I bought the space between the letters appeared a little to large so I trimmed the stamp and it's wooden mount with an X-acto saw so the letters would be closer.
Often figuring out how to do it is the fun!
