Going Rates 67 volt reg & horn relay

Any idea on the going rates for restored dated voltage regulator & horn relay for 67 vette. I've sent numerous e-mails and made numerous phone calls to Pirkle, Jr about restoring mine with no response, so I was just thinking abou purchasing correctly restored ones from others. just wondered what others may have paid.

Al, I had Bill Caldwell Corvette Restorations restore my voltage regulator and horn relay, both look great and I also had the electronic upgrade done also, very happy with both, reasonable price and had both back under two weeks.

Thanks Ralph, JP, Jr, returned my calls & e-mails today concerning restoring mine. I will probably send them to him since he has some other stuff of mine. I know he will eventually get caught up. It's not like I need them tomorrow. I'll still contact BC Corvette Restorations & talk to them. AL

Al - if you go with 'electronic' internals for your VR, be aware that it will be detected if you attempt Performance Verification.
As an aside, for some reason '67 VR's are like chicken's lips......my June-built '67 VR failed and I scoured everywhere for months and I only found 2 for sale.......different sellers but both wanted $1,000 for NOS units! '66 units only cost around $200....go figure? I'll never do PV with my car and the cover/chassis of my VR was serviceable so I went with the $60 electronic internals option.................been working like a dream ever since and no points deduct for Flight.......added bonus is the smile I get every time I think about the $940 I saved
        Cheers,
        Gary (Perth, Australia)

Gary, I do not think the electronic internals for the VR can be detected at PV. That said, I still think Caldwell's VR upgrade is the way to go.
Not too costly and quick turnaround. $1000 for a VR that is sick!

              Ralph,

I seem to recall a story on here about a solid state voltage regulator being caught during a PV. I'm sorry I can't be more specific.

Joe, there was an article on the electronic VR being detectable. If memory serves me ???, it dealt with a slight fluctuation or movement of the needle on the guage with an original vs no movement with the EVR. Someone else may want to chime in on this

Your correct Al Rains. The mechanical(original) VR does not respond as quickly to demand and therefore more detectable needle movement. Can't find the article at this time, but that is how I remember it.
