1968 C3 Coupe Brit Green / Saddle. Color combo question.

I recently acquired a 1968 Brit Green / Saddle Coupe. A fairly rare color combo for that year and we are wondering if anyone knows how many of this 'combo' were produced in 68?

So far (now some 44 years later) no combinations of options, color or mechanical, have been found for 1968. Consider this same situation exists for Corvettes back to 1953 (now some 59 years on) and it is probably safe to say that no such combination figures exist. I think they begin to become available in the C4 era, but I am not too conversant with those cars.

Those of us who were of car buying age in the late ‘60s will recall Green/saddle as a popular color combination of the time -- along with bell bottoms, long hair and a lot of other what now seem like odd affectations.

The 1968 color was Tobacco, a much darker hue than saddle. In my opinion, it was not particularly attractive. I think that is the reason they are not as prevalent. I know of one car oredered in British Green and a black interior because the customer did not find Tobacco appealing.

Although not a 'Standard' 68 color, Saddle WAS available in 68 as an option. I agree with you on the Tobacco, pretty ugly.

Thanks for the correction, Amy. Saddle was added sometime late in production. I should have remembered that since we have just finished an update for the JG. It is noted in the JG, but we have been unable to pin down a date. Maybe the undesirability of Tobacco was the reason for that addition.

What's the Time/Build date for your '68? We could determine tan was available by the time your car came along.

According to the Black Book, 4779 out of 28,566 Corvettes in 1968 were British Green, it was the single most common color, followed closely by Lemans Blue at 4722 made. According to the Black Book also, only black interior was listed for British Green, guess that is a mistake? What does the trim tag list?
