    Under dash cloth "Friction-tape"

Does anyone know where you can buy the old-style cloth, "friction-tape" that preceeded the current plastic electrical tape....? It's used under the dash on the '57 to support the hood release cable by attaching it to one of the defroster ducts....

I remember my Dad throwing away roles of this stuff when the plastic tape became more popular (and better....).....now I can't find it anywhere!

Try a sporting goods store; as they sometimes sell friction tape for hockey sticks.

I have about 3 rolls I bought way back when from American Auto Wire. I know they still have it, it was $12 a roll. Could do about 10 cars. If you cant find it I iwll locate mine and ship you some for your car. You can just return it when you are done.

I will try to get to the tape this weekend and i will cut you about 5-10 feet or whatever you need from the roll and wrap it around a "somethingornother" and send it to you. no cost. I am 85% sure I remember where i placed it. Just so we are sure on this... this is the tape that looks like black medical tape or go to this link http://shop.americanautowire.com/spe...nesstape1.aspx

Hi Gary, Try an Electrical Supply House in your area. I think this is still a stock item for them.

I bought some at my local True Value hardware store about a year ago. It didn't seem to be hard to find.

Home Depot or any Pro shop at a Hockey Rink. I play, and go through tons of it. About $2.50 for a roll. Dan

I have found the tape. I have a roll of the cloth and the non-adhesive type.

We used to call it "Monkey Grip" tape. Did a little research, it is still available http://www.northstatehc.com/store/in...on=show_detail
