Richard, I'll try and help. According to the "Lime Book" if it is from a Corvette, which the 19000 series may indicate, it would be a 350 ci with automatic trans from 73,74 or 77.

      Richard,

Is that the exact format of the stamping, with nothing else on the pad? Not typical of a factory installed engine if so.

        Richard

According to my Chev P & A catalog the " CLA " designation was used for the 1973 - 74 Corvette and also the 1977.

        The '73 - 74 references a --- 350 CID engine with T. H. 400 trans ( Base engine L48 )

The 1977 reference is ---- 350 CID engine ( Neither auto or manual trans identified )

As Mike noted, that's not a typical pad stamp. Please post exactly what's stamped on the entire pad, or a photo.

              Richard -

The "CLA" suffix was used on '73-'74 and '77 Corvette base engines with THM-400, and several later passenger car applications; however, the format you noted was never used in production - the "CLA" suffix would have been preceded by a "V"with four digits for the month and day, and there would be a separately-stamped 9-digit assembly plant VIN derivative. What you have is most likely a rebuilder's I.D. code - a close-up photo would confirm that.
