    Throttle Cable Support Bracket for a 1979 L-82

    I have a 1979 L-82. I am doing a little cleaning and painting under the hood. I have gone through the Technical Information Manual and found that the aluminum intake manifold and lifting hardware were to be painted dull aluminum but I can't find out what color the throttle cable support bracket should be. It's attached to a Rochester quadrajet. In taking it off it looks like a very dark green and I am trying to find out what it should be before I reinstall it.

      Not sure about the 79 but my 75 bracket which may be the same part number is a gray phosphate.

          The 1975 and 1979 accelerator cable brackets were not the same. I have an NOS example of the 1979 bracket but I can't get to it right now for checking the finish.

              My 1978 is of the gray phosphate vintage and those 79's I've judged looked similar. Now, one could argue whether its black oxide, gray phosphate (manganese phosphate) but clearly its plated...not painted.

                  Sorry to intrude on this But I'm heading in the same direction as paul. Doesn anyone kniow what the correct finish for the same bracket is on a '72 LS5? thanks!

                      Black or gray phosphate, usually much more gray than black.
