    New Car Ad

Another ad from Ralph Spear's archives. Oh how I long for the good ol' days.

      Re: New Car Ad

I purchased a crate LT-1 in 1970 for $750.00 +/- and in '71 bought two crate L/88 engines for about $1,300 each, including starters, distributors and carburetors. The LT-1 is still in a '60 Corvette, having been driven less than 250 miles since 1970 and one of the L/88's is in a '68 Camaro, having been driven less than 200 miles since '71. BTW the Camaro is/was a 396/375 L-89 car. Has only 13,000 miles on it since new.

I was in the AF with a fellow who had a Corvette Mako conversion. It had a transplanted OTC ZL-1 which later went into his boat in FL. The Corvette was blue with red leather.

And is the current owner in love with the car? Can't have too many L89s.

Stupid money has not seemed to budge the owner. Will not put a price on it. Don't have a clue where the original engine is though. Your kind of car, black, black hounds tooth SS/RS

Those L89 Camaros are rare and special cars. Seems like I heard there are less than 20 originals (69) known to exist but I could be way off on that.

                  Ralph,

What is the tag hanging from the interior rear view mirror?

The paper tag was put on when we checked the car in, it was the dealer stock number.

A couple more of the new 71 Corvettes. Ralph says the cars have not been wrecked but, the old pictures are bowed up...

All Corvettes and any other Chevrolet super sport models were kept on the roof of the service department so they would not be stolen or stripped. after all the dealer was in Boston. The building is still there and is used for a parking lot for the hospitals in the area. It is at 16 Kilmarnock st. Boston MA.
