    What's a C2 body weigh

Planning to lift my 65 vert body off the frame. Can someone give me an estimate of the weight. I've removed everything except the doors and the rear deck lid.

    Thanks for your help.

I'm just reading an SAE paper on the '63 (630064) " the total body weight ready to drop on the chassis is 411 in 1953, 405 in 1962, 397 in 1963."

        Sirs:
those numbers in the low 400's and 397 must be in kilograms. I would use the 700 lbs for a Body with doors minus a hood. Add up to 200 lbs for a vehicle with door hardware, side glass, windshield and an I/P. A body fully trimed out with dr panels, carpet, heater grille, etc (minus seats) the way it was dropped onto the chassis may be around a 1100-1200 lbs. Someone should do a weight spreadsheet during their teardown.

          John,

I think your estimates are more realistic. I'm going to assume 1000 lbs because I do have the windshield and door glass in place. Would be nice to see someone document the weight,

From 630064: "The steel parts...in the 1963 body weigh 82 lb. The '63 convertible plastic parts weigh 300 lb." So 397 is a bare body. So the "ready to drop on a chassis" is coming from a body designer, not from the assembly plant.

            397 - 82 - 300 = 15 pounds of "other". Other = paint, hinges, latches, measurement error ??
