    63 dipstick (again)

We covered this pretty thoroughly a while back, with lots of 8 x 10 glossies (with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back), but, unfortunately, the photos have mostly been removed from the various threads on this subject. I wonder if I could ask you guys to again post some more detailed pics of the 63 FI dipstick?

Also, is the handle of this particular dipstick 2 1/2 inches long, or, 3 inches long, like the repops?

    Thanks, very much,

How about some nice pictures of a original, I would love to see them.

There's a sign over the entrance door to my shop that says "Group W".

Paul, I hope you have an appropriate bench in that "Group W" area.....

Hi Mike, I was told that this was an original SHP dipstick (just as possible that it's not though). Perhaps the more knowledgeable can look it over. If it is, I added the tape measure to help identify.
            Aloha,

Sorry, getting upload failure and no other reason. It's a .jpg file that's 266kb. Don't understand what the problem is. Any ideas?

Use the Basic Uploader function (see postings in the Help! forum on this topic for instructions).

                  Thanks Jim and Chuck

                  Irby, try this:

                  1. At the top of the "Quick reply" window find the button marked "Insert Image" and click it (its the third icon from the right)
                  2. A window will pop up titled "Insert Image", make sure "From Computer" is selected
                  3. In the lower right-hand corner of the "Insert Image" window find "Basic Uploader" , click it
                  4. A new window will appear, Select "Choose File" button
                  5. Find the pic file you want on your computer and select it
                  6. Select "Upload File" , nothing will seem to happen while the file uploads, it may take a few minutes and the file will be inserted and appear in your message

                  cieling_gauges_008.jpg

I uploaded this pic as I was typing the instructions, so you should be good to go

Ah, thanks guys. Excellent instructions. I was attempting to do it a little differently.
Okay, I've looked at Jim's pic and mine is probably not original. I notice two differences. The end of the curved finger pull is blunted on the original and mine comes to a point. The washer on the original appears slightly cupped and mine is flat. Not sure of the length but maybe Jim could add a pic with a tape measure next to it. Here (finally) are my pics.

Darn, I tried to add more than two pictures and it won't load so I'll add two more on this thread.

Okay, now it won't let me add the last two pics...LOL. This thing does not like me.

FWIW, I've seen both pointed and flat ends on the curly-cue handle.

Irby, if you mess with the pic application too much, it seems to go tilt.

Your part is a bit different, most interesting is the flat washer. I tend to think that, as happened with most parts on these cars, there probably were two vendors, with slight differences between their dipsticks...

                          Thanks

I was adding the pictures through a VPN. That could've been the problem. Now that I'm out of the VPN, I added the pics with no problem. All 4 pics are up.

So it's possible that mine is an original? That would be a relief. I don't relish the thought of having to search for an original dipstick. What about the length? Does anyone know the correct length? Mine is 21.5" tip-to-washer, 24" total length.

I think the one with the flat washer is actually a 64 that's missing the rubber cup?
