Trevor Jones - 1959 Vacumn Operated Co-ordinated Washer Operation Information Request

    C1 59 Corvette. Vacumn operated - Co-ordinated washer.

I would like to know how they work. Is there a fault finding system for them. Is there a full breakdown view of how they work.

We are in Australia. Any help would be wonderful. I can not find any information in any of the manuals. Thank you.

    Trevor,

Do you need information on the electrical motor or the vacuum system?

ST12 has good information on the wiper motor.

You may want to search. I think Tom Maxwell did a writeup about the w/w system. Maybe someone will do another one.

Tom Maxwell will rebuild it for you for under $100 USD. There's a diaphragm in there that is supposed to hold a vacuum and cause the rod to move. Tom can open it up; replace the diaphragm; and, put it back together.

You can test yours by applying a vacuum to the nipple. The vacuum should hold and cause the rod to move. If nothing happens when you apply vacuum, then the diaphragm needs replacing.

Thanks John, One of the members has just sent through a site www.chrysler300club.com/tech/w-washer60.html which has a great article on the very assembly we have. Thank you for your time. If the diaphragm is the problem we will get in touch with Tom Maxwell. Thanks for your input and time for this. Regards Trevor
