I need answers to a few questions about the installation of a fan shroud on my '57. How much clearance should there be between the lower shroud and the balancer?......between the lower shroud and the radiator (presently it's right up against it!)? .....between the lower shroud and the lower radiator hose?.....between the whole shroud and the fan blade. Should that lower shroud be screwed to the crossmember to avoid vibration and any movement? Thanks for your input and help.

As shown in your Assembly Manual in section 13, sheet 2.00, View "A", the bottom segment of the shroud is attached to the front crossmember with two screws and washers.- Top

Re: C1 Fan Shroud Installation
There should also be a ribbed rubber cushion as used between the body and frame between the shroud and crossmember.
The shroud fan opening is about 18" indiameter, so with a 17" fan you'd ideally have about 1/2" clearance all around. Don't have my engine in so I can't comment on how well centered the fan is in the real world.- Top

Re: C1 Fan Shroud Installation
Thanks for your help guys. I've seen the AIM and there's not enough detail there to see what's going on. For instance, I saw the insertion of shims under the shroud, but didn't know what shim to use. My biggest concern is the fact that the lower shroud piece is right up against the radiator! Should this be? Do I need to create some clearance there? There should also be a ribbed rubber cushion as used between the body and frame between the shroud and crossmember.
