Ampmeter Gauge Wiring to Horn Relay

The ampmeter gauge in my '66 has not worked properly for years as the needle always points to the hash mark between 0 and 40+ no matter if I am driving the car on the highway, around town, sitting at a light or when the ignition is off. So, I decided to take a look at the wire attached to the horn relay. The assembly manual shows that there should be a single red wire attached to one of the horn relay tabs but from the diagram I can not tell if the wire is attached to the bottom right tab or the left tab marked "bat".

In my car, there is both a red and a back/white wire attached to the bottom right tab, is this set-up correct? Thanks

    John -

It doesn't make any difference which of the two screw terminals on that hot buss you use - they're electrically common.

most common problem is corrosion in the connection on the engine side where the wiring harness connects. Carefully remove the connections, clean the terminals reconnect and then recheck.
