Im am in the process of restoring my car. I am in need of some advice on how to reattach one of the pins on the fender scoops. It is an original.

    JB Weld should work fine.

Thanks Bruce, I have cosidered JB weld. Will it be strong enough to support a fastner? Can pot metal handle any type of welding ie silver solder?

        Jerry,
I think if you use the speed type nut (thread cutting) it might break off the JB welded stud.
I believe silver solder is used for pot metal repairs but I think the chrome has to be removed from the area.
I had a stud broken off on one of mine and I ended up just putting a dab of silicone on the back to hold it in place.
        Not correct but it works.

Jerry, I had an extra that the stud was broken off during removal from an original car. I took it to a local jeweler and he did the repair.

              Jerry

The best way to fix it is to braze/solder it. I have used the following products with good success. There is actually a video somewhere showing them putting a stud back onto a console with these products (I believe Super Alloy 1). I use this with MAPP gas but it works a lot better with a tourch.
