    72 steering column key switch

I will have to someday take apart my column to replace that switch that is broken leaving the buzzer on all the time. Does anyone have one they can measure for me? I understand there were different lengths and a buddy has some but isn't sure of the application.

    Thank you
    Gary

I'm afraid that I am not going to be of much help because I think that you have a standard (non-adjustable column.) That being said, the 1969-76 T&T key buzzer switch (7811093) has a plastic case that is 2.13 inches long. (The bad news is that I don't have a drawing on the standard switch.) I am sure that there is a different T&T switch (26022717 or 26035239) 1977-82. I am also sure that the standard column switch (7804414) is shorter than the T&T switch and it is the same switch from 1969 through 1979. Maybe this will help by the process of elimination.

Thank you Jim, this is in fact a T&T column for my 72 so the 2.13" is what I need. I should see about them both because I have a std column in my 69.

        Gary,
I have an NOS key buzzer switch for a 70 w/ T & T here somewhere. If 72 is the same I can take a couple of photos and post them.

            Gary,
Hopefully these photos will help. #093 is the T & T switch and #414 is the standard column switch. #414 switch is still in the packaging and I didn't want to remove it. Same idea as the #093 - just smaller.

I had the same issue. When you opened the door, the buzzer would just stay on. It was annoying. When I bought the car, it was like that. Finally, I had enough and just took it into a local well known and talented Corvette restoration shop to have this and some other stuff done. The fix in my case was that the prior owner must have put graphite or similar stuff in the ignition, which essentially was a conductor causing the buzzer circuit to close and buzz permanently. The shop had to pull the parts, clean and reinstall. I did take the opportuntity to have them install a new briggs ignition switch with knock out key.

Maybe you have a similar situation?

This guy helped me out with parts for my standard column.

Nice guy fast service. Jim has a site to help with the installation and removal. Not the easiest job if you don't have the special tool to compress the spring in the column. My problem was the little switch inside. It fell apart when I took it out.
