I recently disassemblied an original '65 327 block. As I bagged and tagged the bolts, I noticed the head markings on the timing cover bolts. The engine looks pretty original, but who really knows after all of these years. Has anyone ever seen the head mark depicted in the attached photo? Is this an obscure original head bolt desing?

Re: '65 327 timing cover bolts
Those are quite common. On my 65 327, all the oil pan bolts (except the larger 4 corner bolts) and the 4 bellhousing front shield bolts have that same head marking. My timing cover bolts all have the "L" marking. All bolts are still in their original positions.

Anthony-----
The headmark pictured denotes ELCO INDUSTRIES. The other headmark they used was "EL". Either headmarking was VERY common in the later 60's and 70's for the 1/4-20 hex head screws with captive external tooth star washers. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
