Oops - looks like a broken engine mount bracket

Was cleaning up my frame this afternoon and noticed two cracks in the right upper engine mount bracket. What's the consensus - repair or replace?

    Keith,

Replace it. Buy a new mount and grind and cut off the old one.. At lease you will know it is done right. Better now than on a long Sunday drive with Gina. A man can deal with a little car troubles.. but the wife may not be so comfortable. Hard to explain to a woman why the car failed..

You're right Al - gotta keep Gina happy! My only concern is making sure the new bracket is properly aligned. Wonder how they did it at the factory? Must have had a jig.

A good welder should have no problem welding this to return it to just as good and strong as a new one providing the entire crack is assessable.

I am going to outline the old mount with a ReD marker before i cut it off so the old one will go in the correct location. I have the same issues on the right side.

Keith, use a white or yellow fine point paint stick. I keep both of these in my shop for marking pulleys, etc. Also, if you have a MIG welder this is a simple repair. While replacing the bracket is your best option, you can also just grind out the crack and fill it, if you wish.

It's welded to the frame with a crappy weld job Philip. Lots of weld material surrounding the bracket.
