    Spare Tire/Wheel

My 3 owner '65 Coupe has aftermarket knock off wheels. They have been on the car for many years. The spare wheel is a regular steel wheel. My question is as regards the spare wheel. In a situation where the car has knock off wheels, it is permissable to have a steel wheel as a spare? (I realize that I have some issues as regards having a flat on this car with this set up.) Should I go ahead and buy a 5th knock off to serve as a spare? The car received a 2nd Flight back in Nov. and I am working to go to Top Flight I do not see where there was a deduction for the spare or where this is addressed in the Tech Info Manual, but maybe I am missing something. Thanks for any guidance.

Page 79. Second sentence of the Option P48 section. "They were delivered as a set of 5".

There should be no deduction for your steel spare wheel. Your KOs are repos so it is known that they aren't original and they would be a deduction.

In asnwer to your questions: 1) it is permissable to have a steel wheel as spare. No dedcut in judging.
        2) Do not buy 5th repro KO for spare. It serves no purpose to you. a0 already have a spare, b) it will be a full deduct (not original) and c) you will also need to change spare tire tub carrier bolts in order to fit.
        3) it is in the JG and buying the 5th rerpo KO will cost you points (not gain) in moving toward Top Flight

            Mike -

Your spare wheel should be the same type as the road wheels or it will get a deduction; the spare tire need not match the road tires if it appears original.

So if he has crager mags on the four corners he should have a crager in the tub instead of the original steel wheel??? I could be wrong on my above post when I said no deduct for the original steel wheel. What do other judges say?
