Here is what I would do. Cut four small pieces of used fiberglas and glue them in as a sort of bonding strip. Then you can cut two pieces of used fiberglass and bond them to the bonding strips that you have created. After they are dry and secure, V out all of the edges and with resin and fiberglass cloth (the matted kind) cut small strips to fit in the small part of the V and cut 3 or 4 in increments that get wider until you are wider and higher than the surface. Grind and Block sand to surface and you are done. You will have four areas of V to work on. Did this make sense? If not call me and I will talk you through it. 303-520-6363

The method shown in the old GM service manual works pretty well. Cut a piece of fiberglass from another part and feed it into the hole. Cut it large enough to lap over the sides of the hole. With a couple of small holes to fit a wire into, use the wire to pull up on the piece. With bonding agent on the wings of the piece pull it up and let it cure. That creates a good backing for the face repair.

I second Wayne's recommendation, however would use small screws on either side of hole to pull up my backer piece. After curing back the screws out fill in the holes and complete the repair.
