Drivers side horn mounting on 67 with A/C

I am in the process of reassembling my SB 67 with A/C. After 2 1/2 years being in pieces I can't remeber exactly where the drivers side horn mounts. Can someone help with this. A picture with description would be of great help. I looked in the AIM under UPC 12 sheet A6 but it doesn't show how the horn mounts on an a/c car with the condensor. C60(the a/c section only shows the passenger horn detail.
    Thanks

    Neal,

I don't have a pic but the left (drivers side) mounts on the radiator support. This is the stock mounting for AC and non AC 1967 Corvettes. The passenger horn mounts on the inner fender. There is a nut plate installed on an AC Corvette. You will have to run a separate ground for the horn to function. That ground should be in an AC car already.

Re: Drivers side horn mounting on 67 with A/C

      Joe,
Thanks for your reply. The 67 AIM(Section UPC 12 sheet 5) shows the DS horn mounting location for non A/C cars. The A/C Section(UPC C60 sheet B-1) shows a changed location for the PS horn but no change for the DS horn location. The problem is the A/C condensor frame partially covers the mounting hole shown in the AIM for the DS horn location. In prior threads started by Kirk McHugh there seems to be a concensus that the DS horn mounting location was moved to the lower corner of the condensor where the bolt goes thru to the fan shroud clip. Pete Lindahl and John Hinckley seem to me to be indicating that the AIM location should be the correct one but I don't see how I can get the bolt to go in with the condensor frame partially blocking it. I was hoping that there is some folks out there with untampered A/C cars that can clear up the mystery.
      Thanks
      Neal

        Neal,

I have an untampered with 1967 BB with AC. The left horn is in the stock location and the condensor does not block the installation of the horn. I would get you a picture but the 67 does not live with me. We are seperated! Got to get a larger garage/shop built!

Neal, if you don't have your answer by Thur PM I will check my 67 sb w/ac pictures when I get in from Tn and let you know where mine was mounted. I'm thinking it was in the stock location as with the non a/c car. I, too am dealing with a restoration that was put on hold back in 93, but I took tons of pictures of everything during dis-assembly and followed them up with many pics of restored cars at the Williamsburg National. I will have what you need on this when i return.

When we went through this before, everyone who replied with an AC car said there DS horn mount had been moved. I believe at that time John Hinckley suggested it may have a line change as needed because of clearance issues. Neal, mine would not fit in the "correct" hole either and I know my condenser is original to the car as was the DS horn which was mounted in the secondary hole. Since I am not the original owner, I obviously cannot say that it wasn't moved at some time.

                  Al,
I am looking forward to your following up on your prior post after looking at your pictures. If possible can you post one or two showing the DS horn mounting location on your SB a/c car.
In the meantime I decided to mount the DS horn on the lower corner condensor mounting bolt that goes thru to the fan shroud. I can move it later if there is photo and convincing evidence to the contrary.
Kirk, can't help you with your phot posting dilemma. Candidly it took me awhileto understand the old system and this one has me baffled too.
However my computer skills are limited.

Sorry Neal, I forgot to look at the pics when I got in last week. I'll try & write a note so I don't forget when I get back on Wed. I'm not sure I can post a pic., though. I've never done it before. Maybe, someone at work can do it for me on Thurs, I'll ask. Al

Neal, I checked my disassembly and Williamsburg Nationals pics. The drivers horn was indeed mounted in the "condensor to fan shroud" mounting hole, not the NON A/C hole as I thought . I'm unable to send you the pic's sorry. Hope this helps!! AL

                        Al,
Definitely helps as it confirms the conclusion I reached that that was the only place that the DS horn could be mounted.
Thanks for your time and follow up.
                        Best regards
