dumb question but important

I am assembling my power window regulators on my 65. Does the spring assist in going up or down with the window. I just realized they will fit either way. Thank, Mike

I don't have power windows, but I've recently removed the internal mechanisms on my '65. The spring was frozen on many adjacent coils due to negligible use. After I soaked in WD40 and other miracle liquids, and rolled the window up and down a hundred times, I can say that the spring assists in going up. Gravity does the job on the way down. I believe the design criteria were to have equal effort for the crank (manual) or motor in either direction.

Thanks, Wayne! Common sense returned after a while and I thought well the window can fall down but it can`t jump up. I worry about the thought processes of my brain at times.
