Are 69 and 72 T-tops the same. Are the tops dated. Are the inside panels dated.

Re: Are 69 and 72 T-tops the same?
Hi Monte,
I believe the 69 and 72 roof panels are the same.
When I restored mine I didn't see any date codes. But since some interior panels, like the door panels have a date stamp, perhaps some did?
I did find this however... the last 3 numbers of my VIN sequence. (not the job number) The body color is red

Re: Are 69 and 72 T-tops the same?
Monte,
There are several differences in the items attached to the T-tops. The latches and adjustment nuts may be different from early '69 and the weatherstrip is very different. The portion over the door/window on '69 is a different than '70 up. This not available anywhere (at least last time I looked). There may be other differences but these are all I can remember.

Re: Are 69 and 72 T-tops the same?
Jeff,
When I bought the 72 over 25 years ago, I got boxes and boxes of GM waethering stripping with the car. The previous owner was a GM parts counter guy and bought up everything he thought was going to be discontinued. He planned on redoing the car at some point when his young son was older. Sad to say, he had to sell the car to meet medical bills. His young son got very very sick. All of the sudden the car did not matter so much.
Some times we loose the fact that these are just cars that do not really matter in the big picture.
Anyway,
My real question should have been asking is, "Are the inside panel different?" The answer to that question would be the one the would resolve the dilema I am in right now.
Thanks,
Monte- Top
