I am beginning to restore my 72 roadster. Would like to buy NOS parts. Is there a book/manual published with the actual part numbers for my car? I see parts for sale that have the actual GM tag with the number. I need to be able to know if the part will fit. Appreciate some input.

Re: Part number reference manual/book ???
Nick, the problem with NOS parts is that some are correct and some are just will fit. Quite a few service parts differ in configuration and fit. Some parts on the cars were never available as service replacement parts.Dick Whittington- Top

Re: Part number reference manual/book ???
The 72 assembly instruction manual (AIM) lists the original part numbers for items installed at St. Louis. The Illustrated Parts Catalog is also useful but be aware it will list service replacement part numbers when the old NOS was phased out.

Re: Part number reference manual/book ???
All my parts books list the years they cover: 1953-1976 and 1953-1978 for example. I suppose it is POSSIBLE that someone would claim 1972 when it covers through 1982...- Top
