    2 tops.

Which of these tops belongs on my car. Looks like someone was confused and now they got me all screwed up too. They are constructed differently. If I had to bet the farm on it I would say the black one since it came from Al Knoch and it has the warning tag. But the white one looks better on my car, it came from EZ tops. they both look to be dated but I can not determine the date codes.

Hi Al, I will give it a shot. Either color was available in 1960. The black top has a sewn rear window (60 had a heat sealed window) and the date code is June of 58. The white top appears to have the correct rear window (heat sealed) but the configuration of the trademark looks wrong - should be "Vinylite" or some early 60s had "Regalite". All is covered on page 32 of the Judging Guide. Good luck, Don H.

      Thanks Don.

I will assume that this is just an aftermarket top. I like the look a white top will look on my car. But It seem that black top is constructed better.. I hope the white top does not leak around the window, it looks like the glue could come apart if I operate the top too much.

The white top only looks good until it gets dirty and it is almost impossible to keep it clean and bright. On my 1960, I switched from white to black and for me it was a great decision. I never have to worry about a dirty, dingy white top. I was never able to successfully clean my white top. Others may have had better luck.

WOW Joe you speak the truth. I have a 1964 Impala and a Mustang both with dirty brown tops..Was white when I pull then out the box.
