'72- Another blackout question

Before blackout there were several things riveted to the firewall, I think. From what I see these are the items that were attached.

1. Hood latch reinforcements
2. Alarm switch mount
3. Harness retainers
4. Studs for the steel vacuum line retainers and wiper motor
5. Gas pedal reinforcement
6. Steering column reinforement

First, Am I correct that they were installed before blackout?

Second, Was anything done to shield them from being painted. Particularly the studs.

Third, was the evaporator housing installed and did it get blacked out?

1) Yes, you are correct -- and add the hood hinges & hood

2) In general don't think so, but see what others have to say. The edge of the hood and the hood hinges were shielded from black-out. There have been threads with photos of original paint hoods and hood hinges posted here, look them up or study original paint cars. One could write for days and days and never adequately explain it to you.

3) No -- evap housing nor heater housing were installed before black-out.
