    Don't throw it away.

Can't say for sure it is a 1960 piece, but it should be correct for just about any Corvette through 1967. There were two designs, and this is the Eaton (coil) one. Small blocks and big blocks had slightly different shafts. Can't see this feature to tell which one you have. These Eaton units were also ink stamped on the front to indicate date and whether BB or SB application. Your picture does not show this due to age. The other design was the Schwitzer (bar) design.

If you can provide additional pics that would help. On the Eaton design, the fluid reservoir ends changed from retangular shape to trapazoid shape beginning in 1968.

Side shot, and also a shot of the other end (looking straight down).

Can you see any faint ink marks on the face of the fan clutch that you already photographed??

Al: Before I receive some comments/corrections from others, the Eaton style first appeared around 1960 or so..........therefore I do not think it is suitable for the earlier cars. My comfort zone is the mid-years. I frequently get corrected when I comment on the C1 cars.

            Al,

Your fan clutch looks like the one I bought last year that was stamped "EATON CJ" and "L27G" (Nov. 27, 1966) and came with 18" 5-blade fan stamped "912239", "SC", and "L6" (November 1966) used on 1966-1967 Corvettes w/AC.

Clutch fans through 62 had a flat face without the ridge that yours shows. It is very likely correct for mid-years, however.

                Al:

Looks like you are getting some good, additional information. To help decide if this is a BB or SB fan clutch, you need to measure the shaft length from the extreme end of the shaft flange to the boss for the fan blade attaching stud(s). If it is 1.8 inches, it is a SB application. If 1.5 inches, it belongs to the BB.

Hope this helps. There are two or three guys who can restore these fan clutches and properly stamp them, if you want to have this done. Their names are in the DRIVELINE or in the archives. Or let me know if you cannot find this info.

                    Al,

I got the over spray on it when i was painting the blades. Maybe i should sale the blades with it. Not sure what its worth or how much the correct one cost. I looked at CC to find it but no luck. I bought one from autozone that works. I am happy but next year i plan to go for a flight.
This year i just want to drive and enjoy my car before i restore it to flight.
