    68 Battery box replacement

Back in the day when my 68 427 was cruising 1/4 mile at a time it must have spun the 1/2 shaft on the drivers side creating a huge hole in the bottom of the battery box then bubba crudely fiberglassed it over which looks horrible. Now the battery just sits in the bottom with no means of being held down.
Any thoughts of a good fix?? Does anyone have or know of a source for a good donor box that could be glassed in??

    Thanks,
    Jim

I'd check out a Corvette specific junkyard such as Contemporary Corvette. I think that any 68-82 could probably donate that piece to you.
And yes, you'll then have to fiberglass it in place.

James, last fall, at auction, I sold Mulikin's Corvette in Spartanburg SC several C-3 Corvettes. I do not know where you live but if he is close he would be a good source

I had to do that on my 69 about 10 years ago. I called Gary Dale in St. Louis, he may still be in business but he had plenty of wrecked C3's he parts out. Shipped me a complete battery box. I cut out the rotted bottom and spliced the new box in about 4 " up each side. Glassed it both sides and it came out great.
