Carlton Colclough Email from the UK?

I got this email today from Carlton's email address. I don't have his address in my address book so it may have been a global send to the TDB list. There were no email addresses in the Sent-To list.....Blank, not even my own email address. I don't know Carlton, only recognized the name in the list at the Home page. The address it was sent from is what's shown for his email address.

Did anyone else get this? Is this real or a scam?

I'm writing this with tears in my eyes, I came here in London UK for a short vacation unfortunately I was mugged at the park on my way to hotel where I stayed, all cash,credit card and cell were stolen off me but luckily for me I still have my passport with me.

I've been to the embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues at all and my flight leaves in a couple of hours but am having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let me leave until i settle the bills.

I need urgent assistance.

A number of members received the same email today from Carlton's email address, not sure where it originated from...in the past two weeks, I've received this email from two other members but with different countries described...both emails were hoaxes or some type of email virus...

Thanks Vinnie. I was thinking it was real because the grammar and spelling was somewhat legitimate.

It appears that now we have email address theft. Great! Now we're going to have get s/w to prevent that too!


edit......if anyone has his phone# please call to let him know. He may have to change his email addr.

he has been contacted by phone...both prior members I received it from were made aware of it immediately...actually the originating email address was very deceiving if you replied to it...was one letter off from their actual email addresses...so I imagine if you replied to the email it picked up your email address and infected your own address book...fortunately I didn't reply to either one of them...but did notify them via their correct email addresses...BUT this email today had Carlton's correct email address, not one letter or digit off like the other two...

Rich, like you I would be tempted to buy the story because just about everything about Carlton is short and a short vacation would typical for him.

First tip it's a hoax is it said CC's cell phone was stolen. Never happen as it cost a fortune to use a cell phone overseas.

The hacker needs new writer as too many of our friends getting identical hype.

The hacker needs new writer as too many of our friends getting identical hype.

To use our cell phones, that may be true -- but one can buy an inexpensive cell phone in Europe for use there. At least that is what my daughter does when she visits Spain. She even keeps the phone from year to year and shuts it off and reactivates it as she travels. I don't know what it costs, but knowing her I am sure she isn't paying too much.
