I'm in the process of finishing my engine and the harmonic balancer I have was deemed by the machine shop to Un-useable. I have one on the engine that is now in the car which appears to be correct, but I have another one which has 2 marks, one for the timing and one I guess for the alignment of the timing mark. The rubber between the 2 pieces is good condition, but is it right? In the JG there is no mention of a second mark. Its this from a passenger car?

Re: 59 Harmonic Balancer low HP
Pat,
There are no part numbers stamped on the 58, 59-61, and 62-65 "stepped" harmonic balancers. The date codes appeared on balancers starting in 1966 and part numbers (the last 4 digits of the GM part number) appeared starting about 1967 based on my research. I have about 12 to 15 of these 1958-1965 "stepped" balancers in my collection. I did some research on them back in the 1990's which is located in the link below.
The earliest stamped balancers (which are not "stepped") that I have are as follows:
Orig. 1966 Chev. 327 balancer stamped "E6F" (May 1966) from a "3858180" block cast. date "E186" and stamped "T0521HAR" (May 21, 1966)
GM # 3896904 balancer stamped "6904F" and "H7" (Aug. 1967)
GM # 3947706 balancer stamped "7706" and "J8F" (Sept. 1968)
I believe that the letter "F" represents the manufacturer.
