'72 radiator paint- aluminim replacement

My bare naked aluminim radiator is out of the car and I'd lke to paint it. Is there a specific type, shade of black or preferred brand that does a nice long lasting job? All input is helpful, as always!!

Hi Lynn,
The remains of the paint on my 71 aluminium radiator is black of course, quite shiny, and seems to be very thin although it seems to have covered and adhered well.
Eastwood sells a radiator paint you might want to check out.

As Alan notes, the Eastwood paint is very good.
Otherwise drop by your local radiator shop and see 1) what they use, and 2) if they'll paint it for you (provided you like it).

I have used Krylon Satin black on radiators.

I have never noticed any negative cooling issues at all.
It usually takes about 1.5-2 cans to cover.

Just be sure that you prep the surface before applying.

Plus, it is the right shade/finish as was original in the Vette from GM.

The original paint used by Harrison was almost some what of a tar base. I actually am in possession of the original stuff that was used by Harrision. When judging I look for a semi sheen that does not have the smoothest texture, but on the the aluminum radiators the finish does seem to be a little more glossy than the copper versions.

Thanks, since resposes wer slow (Not a bid deal) I got a couple cans of VHT satin black. The finish on other parts I've painted with it look good and I like the fact that it's heat rated. Thanks!!
