Re: BB Corvette Engine Paint
Mark,
that motor looks awesome!!!!! I'd like to hear what folks think of this. I think the AIR stud by the stamp pad should have the threads taped when painted leaving paint on the hex and the tip of the stud. I totally agree with the sharper lines for the overspray on the intake!!!!!
Make sure that they dont use dupont thinner for the factory pack paint or it will be ruined!!! Use PPG thinner. dupont thinner is of a less quality than gun cleaning thinner. They changed the formula!!!!

Re: BB Corvette Engine Paint
Dickie,
He may have missed it. The issue on that formula for me was the gloss but, like you said, it would've dulled over time.
Bob Jorjorian informed me it was policy that the ends of the bellhousings intentionally did not receive paint. This picture from John Hinckley shows two things...one is that the exhaust manifolds look painted and the other is that the bellhousings appear fully painted with the exception of the ends...
When the car gets back from paint, I'll remove the orange from the end of the bellhousing.Kramden- Top

Re: BB Corvette Engine Paint
Indeed a sharp looking engine paint job!!! I've never seen those Tonawanda photos before either, neat! Hard to tell from photo, what about the spark plug shields? Wouldn't they be installed before paint?

I see the clutch fork was absent during painting.
It should have been installed and the fork's end needs to be painted orange.
It will be an easy fix when you make your corrections. Bob- Top
