I understand there's going to be a 62 gulf racer in the group announced next week. Great group of people being included.

I have a great picture of Richard Buxbaum and Jerome Shinkay together, taken in about 1976. In the picture, Buxbaum is handing Shinkay a check for several Corvettes that he bought.

Michael, does Buxbaum have his hand in Skinkay's back pocket?

        Mike,

Congratulations on the 62 Gulf Oil Racer being inducted. I realize you don't own it anymore but if it had not been for you the car would have most likely been lost to history. I still recall the smile on your face during the 87 Monterey Historics and your presentation of the car at the National in Reno. If I remember correctly, you drove the car up from Southern California to Reno. Great times!

To fellow NCRS members there is a great story on Mike's acquiring the car and researching it's history in an old issue of the Restorer. well worth the read.

            Re: Bloomington Great Hall inductees.

It seems very appropriate to me that the name of John Amgwert appears as #1 on this list. In my opinion, he should have been on a prior list.
Without The Corvette Restorer, as delineated by and put together by John Amgwert, NCRS would have probably ceased to exist in the '70s. No one else would have insisted on ONLY new, original material for the magazine; attendance at early events would confirm that the vast majority of members were satisfied with what they received from ONLY the magazine; it would become the foremost star on not one, but TWO fronts: "How It Was Done Then" and "How To Get It Done Now".
NCRS owes it success to the Founders who hit upon the standard of judging the car against a standard and NOT against the other cars being judged; it owes another debt to the Editor and his Contributors who dotted the "i"s and crossed the "t"s and brought to life the way Ed Cole and his friends brought it to life and made it prosper.
            Well Done, John Amgwert.
