Re: '71 TCS Question
Hi Mike
I'm curious how many versions there were of the labels before the reproductions started?
I bought what I think was an over-the-counter part. In the box was a solenoid with a label, a loose label on a waxed paper backing that appears to have been cut from a roll (the label looks like it melted), and an instruction sheet, (note the date), showing a solenoid with a label. The 3 labels are each different from each other.
?

Re: '71 TCS Question
Alan
I think there were 2 style of labels the original version wording goes length ways with the cylinder and the later service label the wording went around the cylinder. As far as the date on the instructions even a solenoid made say 1980 could have the 1970 date on the instruction. I have seen that many times on parts with instruction that the date is when the paper instructions were written not when the part was made per say.- Top

Re: '71 TCS Question
Hi Paul,
That makes sense.
You reminded me of something similar... the limited-slip differential caution sticker on my jack compartment door has a date of 7-22-58. It's not too likely that it was printed in 1958.

Re: '71 TCS Question
I found that I had a CEC solenoid mounting screw on my old 1705 Service Replacement Q-jet.
Can you guys identify it by this picture. Pretty happy if it's correct.
I also found a NOS 11444 with the lock ring and instructions still with the old tin-can container. Looks 41 yrs old. Hope it still works.
Alan, my original Limited Slip Warning sticker says 7-22-58 also.

Re: '71 TCS Question
Anyone have a picture of the metal vacuum advance line tube by chance?
I have one with the clip, but it looks like it's for a '70 where the line goes into the solenoid from the front instead of straight across the front of the carb into the side of the solenoid. Easily fixed, but I'd like to see what it's supposed to look like.

Re: '71 TCS Question
Hi Mark,
Yes that looks like the screw used in my carb too.
Here's a picture of the steel line from my car. Note it has the 2 ribs a each end.
