Solid Axle " Grooved " leaf springs

It seems no one repro's "grooved" solid axle leaf springs like orgional.
Looks like I'm best to have a pair made up.
I found a shop that can do it.
Where could I get the the GM drawings.
I looked on the AACA site , nothing for springs.
    Any ideas ??

Several vendors have repos, be cheaper than having a set made. Lots of people could do it, but to get it right will be a very involved process. You could end up with what amounts to a rigid frame Harley or springs that sag so much you bottom out. If you are still determined try talking to Eaton Spring in Detroit, they made the originals and still rebuild old sets. Let us know how it works out if you do have a set made.

Actually, Eaton Detroit Spring (Mike Eaton) had nothing to do with making any OEM Corvette springs; the originals were made by the Eaton Corporation (still a major supplier of chassis components today), which has never had any connection to Eaton Detroit Spring, which is a family-owned full-service spring shop with all the facilities and equipment to make springs in-house from scratch.

The grooved SAE 5160 steel strip stock hasn't been available from any steel mill for decades, and I can't imagine how any "shop" could create it from the currently-available flat 5160 stock without negatively altering the metallurgy.

Not a "bad" on your part at all - lots of folks make the reasonable assumption that's there's a connection between the two Eatons relative to springs, but there isn't; it's just a coincidence.

I think you would be better served to buy a worn out set of originals, and then send them to Eaton to have them reannealed.

Best for Grooved Steel Spring Restoration Springs wear out over time, just like your windshield wipers and headlights. And just like windshield wipers and headlights, the best course of action is to replace worn-out springs with brand new ones. This ensures a strong and durable spring. However, sometimes replacement springs can’t be manufactured. This is […]
