65 327/300 w/AC waterpump bolts & brackets

Having some confusion on my waterpump bolts finish.

Was the water pump put on when the engine was assembled and painted along with the mounting bolts?

Then were the bolts taken out (on the RH side) and the air cond brackets installed (it takes longer mounting bolts for this)?

I am trying to figure out the sequence of all this and note that with a different set of bolts on the RH side to mount the pump before the ac bracket is added they will not go into the engine block to hold the pump so please help me out on which bolt gets which finish, were the RH bolts black as shorter ones were originally installed, then changed out when the ac brackets were installed for longer mounting bolts and these were not painted? Were the ac brackets mounted on the wp (they were already painted black) and then got orange overspray on them as the waterpump was now painted?

Yes, the waterpump was installed at the engine plants and was painted, including the waterpump attaching bolts, with the engine assembly.

The bolts you refer to were removed at St. Louis when the A/C compressor bracket was installed and replaced with longer bolts. These bolts were not painted. I don't know what finish these bolts had. Most likely, it was phosphate but it could have been zinc.
