What primer was used on the door hinges on the 68?

Hi Charles,
If my 71 is indicative of 68-72 cars, it appears to me that the hinges had black paint on them when installed, and then received incidental primers and exterior paint while the exterior of the car was being painted.

Charles,

I would very much like to know how you intend to replicate the caulk (for want of a better term) that seals the hinge to the birdcage. EVERY restored car I see lacks this sealant and once it is gone -- it seems it is gone.
