    Jim -

The ACC crash was February 13, 2009.

I know that Art Armstrong visited Al Knoch a few years ago and Al re-did the blue color after that visit. I do not know if the "new" formulation that was made to match Art's carpet is still being made.

As far as the door panels go, they fit perfectly, unlike the AK panels.
The problem is that the box is the same thickness as the door panels (plus 1/4-1/2 inch so they go in) so it leaves no room for packing. Any hit or weight stacked on top of the door panel box immediately transfers to the door panel. UPS tells me their minimum is two inches on all sides.

Patrick, Jeff Moses was killed in 2001. This is from ACC's web site

In 1995, a management group consisting of Ken Howell, John Mahlendorf, Jeff Moses and George Miller purchased the company from Mr. Holland. In April of 1998 the other three stockholders purchased George Miller's stock. The company acquired Jeff Moses' stock from his estate following
his untimely death in February of 2001. In 2002, the company established an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). The ESOP was put in place to acquire John Mahlendorf's stock thus allowing him to retire. The ESOP has purchased 75.5% of John's stock with Ken Howell purchasing the other 24.5% thus leaving Ken Howell as the only remaining member of the 1995 buyout and the majority stockholder

I can only surmise where Hot Rod got that info

In the scheme of things, is it really important whether the logo on the heal pad or dimmer switch is not quite
          the same size as original?

The original correct ''silver'' carpet is really GRAY. I ''WISH'' it was the silver that Al uses, as it is much better color.

Jamie, it is so obviously incorrect it is not even funny. On a lot of original cars I cannot see the logo without the aid of magnification, but the repro logo jumps off the pad at you. Don't even need a flashlight. Sorta like a bad restamp

Re: Who Makes the Best Carpet?

                  Hi Bob,

For replacement carpet on my '68 I used Romeo Engineering. They advertise in the Driveline. I had no deducts on carpet or heal pad including logo at the 2011 Nationals in Novi. I guess I was lucky or it was within normal tolerances. I purchase the carpet from Romeo about 7 years ago and cannot comment about how long the wait is currently for the order to be supplied.

Perhaps you still have the original carpet and can ask for a sample of the new carpet from the top 3 mentioned in this thread and compare. Also ask to see a picture of their heal pad logo.

                  Good luck,

                  Terry

Re: Who Makes the Best Carpet?

Terry, you were fortunate that I didn't judge 1968s at the convention.

The logo on the dimmer pad is impossible (at least for me) to see when installed in a C3 so everyone gets a pass on that. Several years ago, just after Romeo had added the logo, an owner asked me to look at his carpet when he unloaded the car. I could plainly see the logo standing outside the car. To see originals we have to get our heads inside the car and look long and hard. If the pad it worn, it may need some magnification.

Another area that gets point loss is the rear bulkhead. (I note that Terry reused his old carpet there.) Is anyone making it with the shaped corners for 1971-72? Most are straight across with excess carpet bunched in the corners.

As there is no totally correct repro that I have seen, one must go with some point loss on all carpet.

                      Hi Reba,

I was hoping you would be able to judge my interior either at a regional or national. Although I think the judges who did judge the interior at those events were very well qualified also. There could have been a minor (I hope not more) deduct for the logo. It seems to be a good representation, just stamped too bold from what I have been told and have observed.

I think many judges have never seen an original logo to make a comparison. As you state, Romeo's is too raised, and I believe that the font is also different.

I am of the opinion that Al Knock does. At one time I was working with a woman named Vicki. I made some suggestions to her regarding how the cut of the on the top in the floor board area should be an eneven rough cut. Also, at one time thay did not have the 3 holes for the rubber plugs on the driver and passenger sides, but since that time they incorporated my suggestions and have probably made even more strides towards assembly line accuarcy.

Vicky at one time did work for Al, but well over 20 years ago she left and went to work for Jack Holland at ACC. While she was at ACC she also helped them to make changes in their carpet. After Jack sold out she did not stay long. From what i have seen, Knoch as kept improving their carpet while ACC has not made many, if any, improvements since the late '90's
