Re: RC 26 Radiator Cap
I don't really need a cap, was just funn'n.
BTW, Ralph says to tell us all the cap's gone. Crazy, I know. He also says to say hi and thanks for all the interest.
PS: if anyone needs a very nice RC-26 cap, see me at Carlisle. I might have one....Don Lowe

Re: RC 26 Radiator Cap
Just so I don't jeopardize Ralph's potential, I was indeed kidding in my earlier post to Dick. I have a couple RC-26 caps already.
I do note, however, there are apparently at least 3 different variations of the RC-26 cap. I recall Pete Lindahl telling me the differences, however, I lost the detail from my memory. Can anyone shed light on why/how the "RC-26" stamp is different in the 2 previously attached caps in this post, plus now the pic of one of mine? The differences in the stamps is not addressed in the 4th edition TM & JG, however, The stamp's orientation in the JG sketch is the same as Ralph's cap.Attached FilesDon Lowe

Re: RC 26 Radiator Cap
I'm lost! Auctioneers always talk too fast for me to understand what they are saying. Dick, will you please slow down a bit so I know what you are saying and how much others bid?
Sorry for not hearing faster.Thanks!

Re: RC 26 Radiator Cap
Hi Don,
Here's the RC-26 cap from 71 #6589.
It seems to be most similar to the one in Ralph's picture, rather than those in Wayne's and your pictures.
So?

Alan

IMO Wayne's cap is an earlier cap - pre 1966. Your cap and Dick's cap are correct for at least 66/67. There were two ways originals were stamped with the RC 26...One was vertical on the ear, the other horizontal on the ear...I have a couple of both kinds...Somewhat of an anomoly, but true....Dick's and your cap look great.....

Re: Verify 66 RC26 Configuration
Don - I found it. Pete
Jeff - The photos you and Craig posted of the AC RC-26 Radiator Pressure Cap covers are typical of the RC-26 cover stamping configurations introduced with the 1966 Production year on the 66 sb Corvettes and carried on into the early 70s. As far as I know there are no specific Production year configurations related to the orientation of the 15# RC-26 stamping on the ear but it will be on one of the ears. The same goes for the AC stamping as it will be as shown or located 180 degrees from the position show. Examples I have seen that have the AC to the right of the rivet have 2 circles around the AC as opposed to the single circle in the examples shown. Other examples I have seen on 67s have both the AC and 15# RC-26 stamping located together with the AC to the left of the rivet and the 15# RC-26 on the left ear. Pete

Re: RC 26 Radiator Cap
Michael - I never say newer when it comes to new and interesting items related to Corvette parts and production. From your comment, I figure you have seen one. Any particular information on that RC-26 radiator pressure cap? Inquiring minds want to know about it. Pete- Top

Re: RC 26 Radiator Cap
Peter,
The cap was on my 66 when I bought the car in the early 80's. Definitely a brass center post. Also, a pic of an NOS RC 26 that has a brass post.- Top

Re: RC 26 Radiator Cap
Those are both RC-15's not 26's in your photos. They're supposed to be brass rivets.
