I have a problem with the headlight bucket switch on my 67 coupe not functioning. Two of the three wires on the electrical plug that attaches to the switch have come loose. Only the red (hot wire) remains attached to the plug. Suggestions on how to properly reconnect these wires to the plug.

I've forgotten the exact type of connector that's used on this switch. However, most of the connectors have terminals that are removable from the plastic plug. To remove terminals of this type you have to press down a "tang" using a very small screwdriver. Once the terminal is out, you can carefully "uncrimp", remove the wire fragment, strip and crimp the wire. You can also solder the wire to the terminal or replace the terminal altogether. These terminals are available in the aftermarket.
If the connector is of the type without removable terminals, I don't know of any way to re-attach the wires. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

If you're talking about the laminated fiber "pancake" connector on the harness, I've never tried to take one apart; Lectric Limited sells a repair part that has the connector with all three wire "pigtails" installed, ready to splice into your existing wiring.- Top

Re: Headlight bucket switch problem
There are no wires in the headlight bucket switch - only in the "pancake" connector; the switch only contains contacts.

John, Yes your right. I don't have a switch that I can look at but I had one that the wire had come out of the pancake and I was able to reattach it somehow. I think it was by soldiering it.- Top

Jack - Have some good pictures of that connector send me an email & I give you a copy. Unable to post even small pictures here, but you will need a good print so you can zoom in on the details.
I use a heat gun to soften the plastic tabs and just pull off cover, repair, put cover on, heat, and press flat again.- Top
