    Manual window regulator reinstallation

I removed my 1959 manual window regulator that was stripped (crank portion) last year before storing the car for the winter. I followed the proper instructions but still had trouble getting it out because of the post and guide assembly inside the door. I purchase a pair of reproduction regulators and am now trying to put in the driver side regulator. All the written instructions say to just put it back in through the large access hole. Can someone share the trick to getting it past the post and guide assembly inside the door or do I have to somehow remove more innards? There is very little tolerance to move the regulator inside the door. Thanks

I got the information below from the Corvette Restoration and Preservation List, I have not tried this as of yet. May help

In order to remove the regulator, you must remove the steel brace that
attaches to the bottom of the door post. The post does not need to be
removed but the brace must be to get the regulator out. with this brace in
place there is no way to get the unit past this brace. It just bolts in
place and is easily removed. This same part makes the in/out adjustment at
the top of the window, so you may have to re-adjust this after you replace
it. The bottom bolt is in a slot that allows the brace to slide back and
    forth to allow the adjustment.

i just put my doors back together on my 60. What I found is that you have to crank the regulator assembly one way or the other to get it past the fixed brace inside the door. The regulator assembly and the large toothed gear need to be aligned just right to get it through the space between that fixed brace and the inner door skin.

Thank you both very much. I am sorry I have not responded but my membership expired just after I posted, and despite immediately re-subscribing, have not been able to access the forum until now. Thanks kindly. I will try again with this knowlege.
