    1963 wiper motor question

I just got the wiper motor from one of my '63's back from Corvette Specialists of Maryland-West. It was accompanied by a note that said: "518/13 case, Note: This unit has a #13 case, not usual, most 518's have 15 or 16 cases!"

This car has about 40K miles and I have owned it for probably 25 years. I don't have any reason to believe the wiper motor would have been changed out in that time. Would this be an issue if I ever decide to Flight Judge this car? Since the paint is bc/cc (I refuse to put today's blatantly inferior laquer with wrong pigment and wrong metalic flake on a car) we need to salvage all the other points possible.

    Re: 1963 wiper motor question

    Norris,

The number "13" has nothing to do with the year of the Corvette. That number is the mold number. That cavity in the mold was numbered 13. If something was wrong it allowed the company to find the cavity and repair it without spending too much time. They could cut off the material going into the cavity and repair it at a later time.

I believe 13, 14, 15, 16 are common numbers on any of the Corvette castings as well as common on Chevy's and Chevy II.
