Re: 58 paint help needed.
Ty,
My experience concerning BC/CC has been that there are so many formulas out there that there is probably an existing one that is "close".
These days a perfect match is great when painting a fender or a hood but close can be acceptable by blending a ajoining panel.
On your 58 hood the painter can paint it and then put it on the car and see what it looks like. If it is not perfect the painter can then blend the areas around the hood using the new paint. The process can be to paint the fender tops to the trim (as a breaking point) then blend the front nose panel and the cowl.
This does create additional work but is commonly necessary to get a acceptable job.
Basically we are fooling the eye from a color standpoint and it does work.
Good luck and post some pictures if you can.
ps: Signet Red can be difficult as it looks like tomato soup made with lots of milk, sort of a washed out red. I had a Signet Red 58 in 1961.
