Has anyone experienced the underside of thier hood blistering? I had my stock 70 454 out today and when I returned home I raised the hood and noticed the blisters. The exterior lacquer paint doesn't have any damage. It was approx. 80 degrees today and the temp guage was approx. 200-210 degrees. I wasn't sitting idling and was mostly moving at speeds ranging from 35-55. This was really my first trip since body off resto. The black out paint used was catalyzed enamel. Thoughts???

Re: 70 hodd blackout problem
Well, if you insist. I have never heard of anyone using catalyzed enamel on the underside of their hodd, and it most certainly NOT what was used originally. The only blistering I am familiar with comes from a leaking AC system. That oil will soak through the fiberglass, but usually only blisters the exterior finish. That makes me think the original underside coating was pretty good.
I know this doesn't help you, but you were insistant.Terry- Top

Re: 70 hodd blackout problem
I like the way you copied my "hodd". Also misspelled "their". I need to slow down. Tried to correct the spelling, but don't know how. I don't know if you remember, but you judged this car at Wildwood last year. I'm also aware of the air oil issue, but obviously this is a different problem. What are most people currently using to paint their hoods (see I got it right) underside? Thanks for the response.- Top
