Applied Elec. Power first time since 1978

well didn't go so well, all new wires installed. The wiper motor brown wire smoke checked as soon as I turned on the key. I had it rebuilt I guess the guy didn't do something right. Can't even send in back the guy passed away a couple weeks ago. I have no tail lights and no low beams when I hit the dimmer. No power to the radio or the lights around the clock. The dash lights work, but the turn signals come on solid no blinking. Gas gauge doesn't work either. The Ign. works, the headlight buckets work. The blower motor works fine and I thought it was going to be the problem child. I'm really broken hearted about the wiper motor, I'm not looking forward to pulling it. Well I guess the trouble shooting starts tomorrow.

The fuse panel connection at the fire wall doesn't seem to lock into place the plastic lock arms are short. has any one else had this problem.
