    67 bolt finish

Looking for the finish on the following bolts for my 67 427:
    - the 2 upper bolts that attach the brake booster to the firewall
    - the bolts that attach the alternator bracket to the engine
    - the bolt that attaches the alternator adjustment bracket to the intake manifold
    Thanks

I thought this would be an easy question, but no responses yet. Could someone with a 67 or has this information please respond. Thanks.

Joe, I have seen the brake booster bolts on power brake cars the bolts were Zinc. If you want Joe I have a great list of nuts and bolts and the finishes from a mid year car that documented them on the chassis, it was done by a ncrs member, send me a PM with your email and I send it to you.

        Joe,

It should be an easy question, if I knew the answer, I would post it! I don't have power brakes though, and my car is a small block. The '67JG (p. 116) says two different mounting systems were used, depending on whether the car has power steering or not, but no mention of finish on the bolts.

        - the 2 upper bolts that attach the brake booster to the firewall
GM 3781994 Screw (J50-A2). There are photos in Adams (p. 409-410), but not showing the attaching bolts. This is the only location were this screw was used in 1967, but a search of the part number in the TDB archives shows that it was used at the shifter location in 1963, and Kenneth Schurr listed the screw's characteristics in 2010: "3/8-16 X 1" Indent Head with attached regular lock washer, cad, grade 2"

If your car does NOT have power steering:

        - the bolts that attach the alternator bracket to the engine:
GM 180122 (L36-A3) GM says it's Cad or Zinc, Gr5, regular hex.

        and

GM 3792380 (L36-A3) GM says this one is also Gr5, regular hex, but no finish data supplied. My notes say Cad, but I don't have one for verification.

        - the bolt that attaches the alternator adjustment bracket to the intake manifold:
GM 180122 (L36-A3) GM says it's Cad or Zinc, Gr5, regular hex.

This establishes the finish and configuration on the GM #3792380:

Those pics certainly establish the finish. Thanks Joe.
