    '66 Right Hand Hood Support

The big block details are evident and the engine pad reads T1120IL. The one feature
that does not fit is the right hand hood support. This car was assembled in December
So what do we look for next? Do we assume the front clip was replaced? This would involve the hood (original) and both inner fender panels. It has been repainted red; was blue.

      Hi Carl -

Yes the fuel line is larger and at 90 deg. I will see the car latertoday, maybe on a hoist. The rear end,

Sway bars, gages, throttle linkage indicates a big block car. The hood support position is not consistentfor a December VIN.

      Thanks, Mark

You may want to look close at the stamp pad on the block. That time frame may have one of the factory grind-out pads that were on some L36 engines.
If it is ( you should be able to tell by looking closely at the pad ) and the owner will let you, please post a picture of it .

          Hi William -

The casting number, cast date, and pad are OK, engine was assembled on Saturday. I'm not buying; just listing numbers/pictures for the owner.
The hood support is the anomaly. The left over AO Smith '65 body panels/hoods at should have been through the system earlier in'66.

I'm with you William....Saturday assemby...doubtful. '65 parts would've been already through the assembly system by this timeline. Regarding "grind outs"....I see it mentioned when there's a questionable early '65 pad however to date have not been show any factory documents that would validate this claim. I've heard Al Grenning has these doc's, if so have not seen them on the message board.

              Hi Mark,
Does the car have 1965 or 1966-67 inter fender panels? Also on the TII20IL Saturday stamp, keep in mind Thanksgiving holidays were coming up. Probably started the last shift on Wed Nov 24, 1965 and went through until first shift Monday Nov 29. Management could have seen a need to work the Sat before to keep up with production.

                Page -

I believe it is a big block car, it's just the right hand side hood support issue. I have more pictures of the inner fender panels
and hood. I'm in San Diego now so the pictures will tell the story. Thanks for the input, Mark
