C1 Picture Request - Top of Door under Post

My son and I are in the process of restoring our '56, and have run into a problem on the door posts. As you can see in the pictures, it looks like there's been some "modification" in the past where the post sits on top of the door. In order to build it back up correctly, I was wondering if anyone could post a picture of this area as it should look.

Thanks very much for any help you can give.

Tom, That may be okay as it is. The bottom of the posts are flat, and they may have had to grind down that area for them to fit.

Did you test fit the door posts? That area is pretty rough on the '59 I just did recently and the posts fit fine.

Check the first picture in this thread.....Here

Not a close up of that area but as you can see in the upper left of the photo, it's pretty rough. Hopefully others may have some better close-ups.

Thanks very much for the response Rich. I see what you're talking about in the pictures. Maybe I don't have as big a problem as I thought. Judging by how rough mine was cut and the way the rest of the top of the door looked with the "humps", I just assumed I had some work to do in the area. Can anyone else confirm that their door post area looked the same? I've got the windshield off right now, so it's kinda tough to test fit at the moment...and the windows were not completely together when I started tearing the car down to restore.

      Thanks again for the help!
      Tom.

Tom, I happen to have my driver door panel off my 1960 and snapped a few photos of the area. I can't say for sure whether we are comparing apples to oranges (1956 - 1960), but thought the photos might help. I just finished repairing a small area at the front top corner of the door where the panel screw had blown out a large hole.

Tom, these are the driver and passenger doors of '56 #3421 I did a few years ago. I don't have top view photos, but you can see they are just as rough as others.

I totally forgot I had pictures of my sold '56 project. Here you can see some of the door area in question.
