    Removing old masking tape?

With my latest project I received lots of parts that were wrapped with newspaper and held together with masking tape.
How can I get the tape off metal (valve covers +++} and plated and painted surfaces?
    Thanks,
    Bruce B

Goop, Go-Jo, WD-40 etc and a lot of patience. Nothing worse than cheap tape, heat, and age

Also 3M adhesive remover. If more than just the glue is left from the tape, you will need to let it soak a bit and may need do it a second time.

          WD-40 might do the trick.

WD40 takes a while and numerous applications.
Lately I've been using Goo-Gone Citrus (Walmart), it's really nice, even cut the white puddy that holds the plastic vapor on to the C2 doors.

What's great about it is it's citrus-water based, washes off with water, doesn't hurt paint at all and dosen't discolor aluminum.

I've found that old fashioned lighter fluid works well to soften and remove many adhesive residues.

3M Adhesive Remover will do the trick without harming your parts. Its the same stuff as Goop which Dick recommended.

It also comes in a 1-quart can with a plastic nozzle as #08984 if you prefer a liquid.
